About Retaking a Quiz and Attempt History
A quiz may be set to allow you to complete multiple attempts. The number of allowed attempts is listed in the quiz details. You can also view the history of your past attempts.
Retaking a Quiz
When you submit the quiz, if you can retake the quiz, the "Take the Quiz Again" button appears above your attempt history.
Resuming a Quiz
You can continue a quiz you have started but did not complete if the quiz has not automatically been submitted due to a time restrictions. As you take your quiz, Canvas auto-saves each response. If you navigate away from an unfinished timed quiz, the timer continues to run and auto submits when time runs out.
- Find the quiz you would like to continue.
- Select the title and select the "Resume Quiz" button.
- The quiz will start where you left off.
Viewing Previous Attempt History
When you open a quiz with previous attempts, you will see the Attempt History listed under the quiz details.
Attempt History: View your score and answers from previous quiz attempts.
Last Attempt Details: View the score for your last attempt and your "Kept" score for the quiz. Note your instructor may keep your highest attempt, your last attempt, or an average of all attempts as your final score.
Attempt Overview: See how many attempts you have completed and how many you have left.
